Blue & Co., LLC Announces Expansion with Mellen, Smith, and Pivoz

CARMEL, Ind. (November 1, 2024) – Blue & Co., LLC, a top-60 accounting and advisory firm based in Carmel, IN is expanding into Detroit, MI. Effective November 1, 2024, Mellen, Smith, and Pivoz, PLC (MS&P) will join the firm and become the first geographic expansion into the Detroit, Michigan market.

“We are excited to announce that MS&P will be joining Blue & Co.,” said Brad Shaw, managing director of Blue & Co., “Expanding into a new market like Michigan is a pivotal step for our firm. The combination of Blue and MS&P represents a union of two like-minded firms that shares the same core values and commitment to strategic growth, client service and a people-centric culture. We are excited to get started and are confident that our combined resources will drive significant value and success for both our clients and our people.”

Blue & Co. will be adding more than 20 employees from MS&P with expertise in federal, state, and multinational tax planning and compliance, business valuation, and consulting services.

“Blue & Co. is going to provide our clients and people with access to the resources, knowledge, and expertise that help them not only grow, but thrive,” said Jason Pivoz, director at MS&P and the new Director in Charge of the new Blue & Co Detroit office, “We are excited to see what the future holds as we embark on this new journey together.”

The three partners joining from MS&P are:

Jason Pivoz joined MS&P in 2007 and was admitted as a member of the firm in 2014. He has both a Bachelor’s in Accounting and a Master’s in Taxation from Walsh College. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Michigan Association of CPAs, and will serve as the director in charge of the Detroit, MI office.

Jeffry A. Campeau joined MS&P in 1989 and was admitted as a member of the firm in 1999. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Michigan Association of CPAs, Sunrise Networking Group, and a past member of the MICPA Litigation/Business Valuation Task Force.

Mark L. Smith joined MS&P in 1980 and was admitted as a member of the firm in 1987. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from Wayne State University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Michigan Association of CPAs, and was a long-standing member of the Board of Directors with the Birmingham/Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce.

Clients of MS&P will now have access to resources through Blue & Co.’s extensive network, including IT consulting, benefits consulting, bookkeeping, human resources support, payroll and benefits assistance, investment banking, and more.
