2023 Director Promotions at Blue & Co.

CARMEL, Ind. (January 4, 2023) – – Blue & Co., LLC is proud to announce the 2023 director promotions of Shawn Adams, Patrick Brown, Angela Crawford, Priya Singleton, Peter Szostak, Tabitha Tolliver, and Scott Wilson, effective January 1, 2023.

Shawn Adams is a new Director in Blue’s healthcare department serving Alabama hospitals with more than 20 years of experience. He specializes in hospital reimbursement and revenue cycle issues, including patient finance, patient registration, and is Lean Six Sigma trained in process improvement. Specific reimbursement experience includes Medicare and Medicaid cost report, disproportionate share (DSH) and Medicare bad debt preparations.

Adams is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association where he previously served on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Chapter. Currently, he serves as treasurer for The Americana Community Center in Louisville, KY.

Patrick Brown, CPA, is a new Director with more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, where he has worked with companies in various industries. Brown is the manufacturing and distribution practice leader and the beverage practice co-leader for Blue & Co. He has been instrumental in working with clients to achieve project objectives, including mergers and acquisitions, inventory costing, adoption of new accounting standards, financial report matters, restructuring, and improving and optimizing internal controls. Brown takes a proactive approach with his clients, and his clients rely on him to be a problem solver.

Brown graduated from the University of Kentucky, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Decision Science and Information Systems.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Angela Crawford, CPA, is a new Director in the tax department at the Carmel, IN. office with more than 19 years of experience. Crawford regularly works with not-for-profit organizations and performs the final review of all Carmel office not-for-profit tax returns.

Crawford graduated from Indiana University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration – Accounting and her Master of Accounting from Miami University in 2003. Prior to joining Blue & Co., LLC, Crawford worked at Brady Ware and Greenwalt CPAs, Inc.

Crawford has served on various not-for-profit boards over the years and currently serves as a Treasurer of the Blue Foundation. She is a former member of the firm’s 2015-2016 Building Leaders program.

Priya Singleton, CPA, is a new Director on the Quality Control team at Blue & Co., LLC and is based out of the Carmel, IN office. Her experience includes more than 14 years of public accounting practice focused primarily in not-for-profit, healthcare, manufacturing, and employee benefit plan industries. Singleton works closely with the firm’s Executive Committee and Audit and Accounting Quality Control Committee to manage the strategic direction and function of the firm’s audit and assurance practice. She is responsible for monitoring the firm’s quality control system which includes performing engagement quality reviews, internal inspections as well as coordinating external peer reviews, developing frequent updates and guidance on new accounting and audit standards, and more. Additionally, she serves as a technical resource to teams and clients across the firm.

Singleton earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Management from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2005, and her Masters in Professional Accountancy from the University of Texas- Austin, Texas McCombs School of Business in 2006. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Indiana CPA Society (INCPA).

Singleton has active representation in the firm’s membership in the Center for Plain English Accounting as well as Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center at the AICPA. She is also a Not-for-Profit Section Member and holds the Not-for-Profit Certificate I at the AICPA.

Peter Szostak, CPA, is a new Director with more than 14 years of experience serving in the audit department of the Indianapolis, IN office. He works exclusively with healthcare organizations and specializes in financial statement and internal audits, employee benefit plan audits, other attestation engagements, and consulting projects.

Szostak received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Indianapolis in 2007 and completed his Master in Finance at the University of Indianapolis in 2008. He obtained his CPA certification in 2009 and is a member of the AICPA. ​

Before coming to Blue, Szostak worked at Wagner and Collier, CPA’s and specialized in all aspects of tax as well as some consulting. He currently is partial owner of Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood, Ind., and serves on the board of Heritage Place, an organization that helps foster and encourage independent living for older adults through various outreach programs.

Tabitha Tolliver, CPA, MAcc, is a new director with more than 17 years of experience, serving in the tax department of the Cincinnati, OH office. She works primarily as a consultant specializing in corporate tax and accounting as well as helping business owners maximize their personal net worth through a holistic approach of implementing effective tax and other planning strategies. She works mostly with clients owning with independently owned healthcare practices professional services firms.

Tabitha received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Accountancy from Northern Kentucky University.

Tolliver is a board member and Financial Director of Northern Kentucky Inclusive Students in Education (NISE) and has a passion about engaging and developing learners as empathetic and critical thinkers who collaborate and lead in a global community. Tolliver is a board member of The WAVE Foundation at Newport Aquarium and is passionate about aquatic animal conservation and education.

Scott Wilson, CPA, is a new director with more than 24 years of experience and serves clients in the tax department of the Columbus, OH office. Wilson provides tax, accounting and business consulting services to a range of industries, including healthcare, construction, restaurants and real estate investors.

Wilson received a Bachelor degree from DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio in 1998 and is a certified public accountant through the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants. He is a former member of the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce and Conway Family Business Center and a current member of the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio.

Prior to joining Blue & Co. in 2019, Wilson spent 20 years in public accounting before working as CFO for an Ohio trucking company.
