With the merger of Potter & Company, LLP with Blue & Co., LLC in 2010, Allen became a Director in Blue's Lexington, KY office. His main areas of expertise are traditional audit, accounting and financial reporting services, management consulting, and arbitrage rebate calculations for tax-exempt bond issues.

Allen graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Louisville. Allen has twenty-six years of public accounting experience and received his CPA certificate from Kentucky in 1985. He is a member of various professional organizations including the Kentucky Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, the Government Finance Officers Association, and the Association of Government Accountants. A past chairman of Community Health Charities of Kentucky, Inc. he currently serves on the board of directors of Bluegrass Tomorrow, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Public Library Corporation and as Treasurer for the Lexington Forum, Inc.
